After drug dealing, sex traffic ties with arms dealing as the second most profitable black market industry in the world. After escaping the sex trade, the most important factor in preventing women from returning is to provide them with the tools to support themselves financially. This is why we began Crafting Change.
Crafting Solutions
Crafting Change is a program that partners with The Destiny Center in Calcutta, where women learn to make handcrafted garments and are paid fair wages for their labor. This is part of the final and most important step in empowering victims: giving them the training and self-confidence that leads to a greater economic sustainability.
- Economic stability is the final and most important step in escaping human trafficking
- Our partnership with The Destiny Center in Calcutta supplies women with training and employment
- Women learn to make handcrafted gifts such as purses, blankets, even iPhone covers
- Workers are paid fair wages and taught craftsmanship skills, giving them an alternate source of income, increasing the likelihood that they will permanently be able to escape the bondage of human trafficking.
